Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state early analysis show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important official stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
